New requirements include extended information obligations, expanded rights for data subjects and high penalties for violations \u2013 up to \u20ac 17 million or 4% of global annual turnover.<\/p>\n<h5>Practical implementation steps<\/h5>\n<p>Companies are required to adapt and document their data protection processes. The speakers made the following recommendations in particular:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Creation of a <strong>processing directory<\/strong>,<\/li>\n<li><strong>Review of consent and information processes<\/strong>,<\/li>\n<li>Adaptation of <strong>contracts<\/strong> and <strong>data protection declarations<\/strong>,<\/li>\n<li>Training of employees,<\/li>\n<li>Implementation of a <strong>process for reporting data protection violations<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>A key success factor is a risk-based approach: data protection compliance must become a management issue.<\/p>\n<h5>Conclusion<\/h5>\n<p>The new data protection law requires not only legal but also organisational adjustments.
