The focus was on the legal instruments that companies and rights holders can use to defend themselves against imitations, counterfeits and unfair competition.<\/p>\n<h5>Knowing your rights and enforcing them effectively<\/h5>\n<p>Anyone who owns intellectual property rights \u2013 such as a trademark, patent or copyrighted work \u2013 can assert various claims in the event of infringement:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Cease and desist orders with penalties<\/li>\n<li>Claims for information and surrender<\/li>\n<li>Damages or surrender of profits<\/li>\n<li>Seizure and destruction of infringing products<\/li>\n<li>Publication of the judgement to restore reputation<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Depending on the situation, the rights holder can take civil, administrative or criminal action.<\/p>\n<h5>Practical examples: From patent infringement to brand piracy<\/h5>\n<p>Specific cases have been used to demonstrate how rights can be successfully enforced \u2013 for example, in cases of patent infringement through technical imitation, the sale of copyright-infringing software or counterfeit brands that have been seized by customs.<br \/>\nThese examples illustrate that swift and strategic action is crucial to securing evidence and limiting economic damage.<\/p>\n<h5>Conclusion<\/h5>\n<p>The protection of intellectual property does not end with the registration of a right \u2013 that is only the beginning.
